Single atom Mn sites on highly uniform nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes were fabricated via a facile in-situ solid-diffusion from core MnO2 nanowires to shell ZIF-8. The coordination structure of the Mn sites was controlled from low N coodination number to high N coodination number by NH3 recovery.
