We report a novel seed-mediated strategy for fabricating stellated gold nanoparticles in different sizes. Controlling the reduction rate of reaction and surface passivation of high energy facets are critical for growing stellated gold nanoparticles in a high yield. This work provides new design rules for fabricating anisotropic gold nanoparticles with predetermined physical properties.

This work reports a ligand-controlled synthesis of high dispersed ultrafine Ru nanoparticles (about 1.5 nm) anchored onto the surface of hollow porous carbon shell (u-Ru/C), and surveys their formation mechanism via in-situ thermogravimetry-mass spectrometry-Fourier transform infrared spectra analyses. Such u-Ru/C catalyst demonstrates superior electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution performances in alkaline media.

Sub-nm rhenium disulfide nanoribbons are synthesized using singlewalled carbon nanotubes as nano test tubes. A holistic analytical approach combining microscopy and spectroscopy methods has been applied to follow the synthetic route and to probe the products formed within nano test tubes.

Inspired by the strong interaction between H and Pd, the strategy of “hydrogen doping causes interpenetration between metal atoms” was firstly applied to the formation of surface alloys by N,Ndimethylformamide (DMF) solvothermal treatment at high temperatures. The methanol oxidation reaction under alkaline conditions proved the improvement of the catalyst performance after alloying, and the surface structure and activity source of the catalyst were explored through theoretical calculations.

This research reported a new synthesis strategy to prepare WH-Ln (Eu/Tb) NPs with bright red or green fluorescence by two-step hydrothermal reaction. The synthesized WH-Eu nanoparticles could be successfully applied for live cell imaging and visually observing its degradation process during bone regeneration.
