With quantum spin hall effect (QSHE), spin-orbit coupling (SOC) effect, 2D topological properties, layer-dependent bandgap and other excellent properties, 2D-Xenes have broad application prospects in photodetectors. In this paper, the types, structure, properties, preparation methods and applications of 2D-Xenes in photodetectors are reviewed, and the challenges and future development of 2D-Xenes based photodetectors are presented.

A highly stretchable sensor based on conductive polymer and silver nanowires showed a large strain stability up to 500% and low strain limit to 1%. The strain sensor can successfully detect the human joint motion and monitoring the electrocardiogram signal, which can be used for human healthcare monitoring.

Controlling or passivating the surface defects in perovskite materials is a key parameter to enhance the high photoluminescence quantum efficiency. An enhanced quantum efficiency for perovskite MAPbBr3 (MA = methylammonium) nanocrystals was demonstrated by encapsulating the MAPbBr3 with graphene (Gr) resulting in defect passivation, a conclusion supported by density functional theory calculations.

CuO/TiO2-nanospindle is shown as a robust photocatalyst composite for methanol oxidation under UV light (λ = 365 nm). The catalytic activity is correlated with the concentration of surface oxygen vacancies. The methanol oxidation takes place via the conversion path of CH3O* to CHO*, evidenced by in-situ attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy analysis.

The design and synthesis of metal single atoms on porous carbon nitride/reduced graphene oxide (C3N4/rGO) foam as monolith catalysts allow the heterogenization of homogeneous catalysis. The Pd1/C3N4/rGO monolith catalyst exhibits superior catalytic activity and can be facilely assembled in a flow catalytic reactor for continuous production of 4-nitro-1,1'-biphenyl.

Due to its spirally scrolled structure, the WS2/MoS2 heterostructures nanoscroll has alternative WS2/MoS2 and MoS2/WS2 multi-interfaces, which can facilitate the ultrafast charge transfer and photocurrent generation. The WS2/MoS2 heterostructures nanoscroll-based device exhibited one order of magnitude higher photosensitivity compared to that of bilayer WS2/MoS2 nanosheet-based device under blue laser.
