The impact of nanoscale heat source geometry on the surrounding temperature distribution on silicon substrate is studied experimentally and theoretically at room temperature. It is shown that a hydrodynamic heat transport model, with geometry-independent parameters, allows modeling all the presented data.

A nanovilli Ni2P electrode, which with superaerophobic and superhydropholic can significantly facilitate the mass and electron transfer was constructed via a facial morphology control strategy. With the substitution of sluggish oxygen evolution by urea oxidation, lowering the two-electrode cell voltage to only 1.48 V to achieve a current density of 10 mA·cm−2. The as-designed electrode achieves the expectant AA-battery-driven hydrogen evolution, shedding light on the hydrogen generation by using intermittent clean energy.

Inspired by the formation of tea stains, a unique class of dark stain materials generated by the interfacial reaction between tea polyphenols and metal substance, we reported the facile preparation and screening of a series of photothermal nanocoating layers via the metal ion (i.e., Cu(II),Fe(III), Ni(II), Zn(II)) promoted in situ polymerization of typical phenolic moieties of tea polyphenols (i.e., catechol and pyrogallol). We further fabricated the photothermal composite devices by in situ formation of metal-polyphenolic nanocoatings on pristine silks for solar desalination, which demonstrated promising durable evaporation behaviors with excellent evaporation rates and steam generation efficiencies.

A CNT FET with a novel L-shaped spacer is proposed, and this structure helps suppress the gate-induced drain leakage and provides scaling flexibility. Our TCAD simulation results show that the L-shaped-spacer device’s off-state current is about two orders of magnitudes lower than that of the normal spacer and then meet the standby power requirement in standard-performance digital integrated circuits.
