We have discovered that atomically defined tri-nuclear palladium(Pd3) is a surprisingly active catalyst for the cycloisomerization of 2-phenylethynylaniline. Operando experiments and density functional theory calculations provide strong evidence that the structural integrity of the catalyst remains intact throughout the reaction.

Facet-dependent Cu2O nanocrystals, including cubic, octahedron,and rhombic dodecahedral, are synthesized and utilized to control the alignment of nematic, cholesteric, and smectic liquid crystals.Based on the excellent alignments of the liquid crystals induced by Cu2O nanomaterials with different surface characteristics, liquid crystal nanocomposite films with distinguished photomechanical behaviors are designed.

An efficient, lightweight nanofiber air filter derived from silkworm silk was developed. Silk nanofiber membranes are flexible, translucent,lightweight, and exhibit superior filtration performance for both PM2.5 and submicron particles compared to commercial microfiber membranes, suggesting great potential for use in multifunctional air filters.

Graphene microtubes with ultrathin wall thicknesses of 2–9 graphite layers, large inner voids of 1–2 μm, and nitrogen dopants (NGMT)were successfully prepared. The unique structure of N-GMT with active inner graphene walls achieved superb electrocatalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), outperformingstate-of-the-art metal-free catalysts in basic solution.

B atoms deposited on a Ag surface easily penetrate into the second layer and further expel Ag atoms on top to form Ag vacancies in the initial stage of nucleation. As the number of atoms increases,B nanostructures should gradually transform into triangular fragments,ribbons, and borophene, where hexagonal vacancies are necessary to enhance the structural stabilities.
