We report on the simultaneous nucleation and growth of single domain (3×3) and multi domain (√7×√7)R(19.1°) germanene phases on Al(111) surface regardless of Al substrate temperature with a range Ts = 27–200 °C. Our scanning tunneling microscopy experiments combined with the density functional theory based simulations are consistent with atomic model structures with strongly buckled germanene (2×2)/Al(111)(3×3) and (√3×√3)R30°/Al(111)(√7×√7)R(±19.1°) with one Ge atom protruding upward, which properly describe the experimentally observed single and multi domain surface phases.

WS2 is reported as a two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenide that serves as an intercalation-type anode even at deep discharge condition in K-ion batteries. Investigation of the charge/discharge process reveals an intercalation dominated mechanism to store K-ions, which results in highly stable cyclability and great rate capability of the anode.

An artificial multienzyme cascade system with glucose oxidase (GOx) immobilized within Cu-based metal-organic framework (MOF) layer grown on the three-dimensional (3D) porous copper foam was successfully constructed via a facile electrochemical assisted biomimetic mineralization process. Such a well-designed GOx@Cu-MOF/copper foam architecture exhibited superior sensitivity and thermal stability in the efficient enzymatic electrochemical detection of glucose.

A 2.5 nm tyrosine based carbon dots (TCDs) with phenolic hydroxyl groups on the surface have been synthesized for directly 125I labeling. The 125I labeled TCDs are proved to be effective single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging agents for tumors with effective renal clearance.

Herein we describe the development of a homogeneous assay for the detection of two nitroaromatic compounds. This assay relies on fluorescent molecularly imprinted nanoparticles (nanoMIPs) which, upon interaction with the target analytes, generate a reduction in fluorescence emission intensity (quenching).
