Ultra-small graphene quantum dots (GQDs) were prepared from graphene oxide, using a reproducible, top-down procedure leading to a nearly 100% conversion of the starting material. GQDs confirmed their biocompatibility. They undergo renal clearance and they are internalized into podocytes by caveolae-mediated mechanism.

A novel host-guest luminous system composed of Y2O3:Eu3+/ (Eu/Y-BTC) is affected by the synergy of quantum confinement, spatial confinement and antenna effect, and the absorption of nearultraviolet light increases. The absorption and emission of light are effectively enhanced, and it has shown important application value in the research field of white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs).
